Doo-Nanny Burn

One of the great highlights of the Doo-Nanny is the large sculptural burn Saturday evening. This burn is modeled after the effigy burn at Burning Man in Nevada, as well as many similar art/sculptural burn traditions around the world.  This will be for those who are camping for the weekend.  No Saturday Night admission past Saturday Art Show for non-registered campers.

Combining the beauty and transformational qualities of fire with the concept of temporary, non-commercial art, these type of burns have become a sacred endeavor for many, and just a really great time for others. However you view it, it is spectacular, and we encourage you to participate by assisting the burn team, enjoying the interactive features of the pre-burn sculpture, and maybe even contributing to the design of future burns. It is also in keeping with many traditional burns to bring something of meaning to put in the fire........a note to a loved one who has passed on, a note to yourself about qualities or achievements you would like to draw into your life, a piece of art, clothing, etc. These burns are a LOT of fun, and the more ways you can interact with it, and make it personal for yourself, the more meaningful and enjoyable it will be for all.

An amazing sight to behold... beautiful sculpture that has an ignited burst of life energy... True beauty and lots of raging fun. I loved most of all the way the skies cleared and the burn pierced the air... A magical sense of timing and perfect order.

Possum Trot Auction

Friday Night 7PM (eastern standard time)

Important to note:

History: Possum Trot started in 1976 as a beer and BBQ honkey tonk by Butch's daddy

Butch was raised up in there watching beer brawls and fights and shootouts every fri and sat night
In 1980 we started having possum races
That drew in 5000 people from around the country
This was the pray lude to the first Doo Nanny

Someone suggested that each artist auction a piece of art off at the Possum Trot Auction on Friday Night at 7pm est. to raise money to help pay the band folks. All artists just bring something to the auction with you...

Traditional tractor ride from the Doo-Nanny to the Possum Trot leaves at 6:30PM.  Costumes encouraged!

Movie Festival

CM Laster and Les Blank

This exciting event is one of the main creative features of the Doo-Nanny. We call it a "movie" festival instead of a "film" festival because the word "movie" is short for "moving picture", so in acknowledgment of the intertwangleism inherent therein, we are the world's only movie festival that has a "4D Live Action" division, wherein a short performance/contraption/presentation of any type, containing a moving picture can be entered into the event. We have had several exciting winners in this category, so let your imagination run wild.

Come one come all ...DOO Nanny Woods of Wonder Movie Festival/Show, we are looking for Lo-Fi creations, please have them in a DVD format if you would like your movie shown on the big screen . SQUARE format is better. unless you have high res letterbox format. No real rules apply, if you want to do slide show, run nude holding a picture....thats moving pictures. So RELAX , and make something.
my personal challenge to all those that DOO...you Know who you are!

We now have a beautiful 24-hr movie theater with 6 rows of 3 seats, showing Doo-Nanny movies around the clock! We encourage you to take random hor d'ourves to the theater to surprise your fellow humans in a happy way. This is part of the World Random Hor d'ourve Project, and a great thing to incorporate into your default lives.

We have been very fortunate to have as a special guest film-maker for the last several years, Les Blank, from Berkely, CA. Les has made over 30 documentaries over a career spanning over 40 years. His movies have won many awards, and are shown around the world. Our gratitude and friendship goes out to Les, and we hope he makes it back for many Doo-Nannys to come.

Make sure you get your movies in early!
