Friday night will be the usual fancypants dance party and art auction at the Possum Trot. Mad Tea Party will be playing with special guest Jake Fussell; Mike Howard will play the breaks.
Look for live music on the Pickin' Porch, with Butter Holler keeping it mostly nailed down over there.
The Mad Tea
Uke-abilly. Retro-Pop. Rock 'n' Roll. Mad Tea brews up rock 'n' roll, garage-pop and honky tonk to create a fresh and intoxicating sound. "It's B-52s meets Buddy Holly with a lot more thump." Musical conspirators Ami Worthen and Jason Krekel serve up an exciting live show to music lovers thirsty for upbeat, original refreshment. Delicious harmonies glide over electrified ukulele, juke-joint guitar, scratchy fiddle and pulsing foot percussion. Catchy songs are steeped in raw rockabilly with shreds of doo wop and devilish blues. Drink deep - Mad Tea concocts a musical recipe that will make you boogie.
The band's dynamic show has been catching people's attention across the country. Metro Santa Cruz described it this way, "More a spectacle than a traditional two-person band, Mad Tea consists of vocalist and ukulele strummer Ami Worthen and guitarist, fiddler and drummer Jason Krekel. As Worthen reels out charming and quirky songs with an arch sense of humor, Krekel does double- and triple-duty, creating the illusion of a much bigger band with only two arms and two legs. It's a sight to behold...but Mad Tea's unique sound is just as worthy of note. A bubbly amalgam of juke-joint blues, pop, tiki exotica and rockabilly, the band has honed an approach that is unique and affecting without being too precious."

Screaming Js
The Screaming J's are bringing the boogie back. Members' band credits include The Blue Rags, Mad Tea Party and Helblinki. These energetic rockers have over 12 years and thousands of miles experience getting crowds up on their feet and dancing. Started by Jake Hollifield on the keys & Jason Krekel on the guitar as an eclectic electric diversion from their other projects, the sound is filled out by organ goodness by electronic wizard JonPaul Hess. This isn't your typical cover band, but a conversion band taking classic boogie woogie rhythms, lyrics, and riffs and layering them with original twists and turns to create something new with every show.
Jenny Juice
Songwriter Jenny Juice has an all-encompassing generosity of personality and has never met a stranger. Her music is singularly hipster mix of swingy, bluesy, refreshingly original funk and folk. A “twenty-something” diva of the indie Asheville music scene, she’s been writing and playing since she was 12. Her breezy openness draws people in and lets the creative process channel out in her songwriting. Jenny's third and newest CD “Fruit” is an evolution whose time has come, earning attention and recognition at the national level. Her last CD, “Meet the Hooligans of Bohemia” made regional public radio WNCW’s “Top Ten” list in 2006. Jenny is also a wonderful artist and designer. www.jenandthejuice.com
